JAPAN to Reopen the Borders for Foreign National Tourists

2022.05.27

Dear Worldwide Travel Trade Business Partners,

We are pleased to inform you that our Prime Minister has announced on Tuesday, 26th of May, that Japan's borders will reopen to foreign national tourists starting from 10th of June, and easing the daily cap of new arrivals to 20,000 from the current 10,000 per day. Foreign national tourists will be welcomed on group tours/itineraries that are accompanied by tour conductors.  Currently, we are operating the government sponsored small-scale trial tours inviting the foreign nationals from US, Australia, Singapore & Thailand. After the trial tours, the government will finalize the Guidelines and Conditions of the group tours/itineraries, taking into account the quarantine system and prevention measures.  We are forecasting to receive this Guidelines before 10th of June, in order to inform you with further details about the procedures, measures and policies for our travel trade business. We are very excited with this positive news but allow us to inform you with further information and conditions of the Guidelines once they are officially announced. All business leaders in the Tourism Sectors, including JTBGMT, have been pushing the Japanese Government to ease entry restrictions for foreign national tourists. We strongly wish to revive the Inbound Tourism with your full cooperation & support. Please kindly visit the following link to find the latest conditions. >MOFA(Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan)

Yours Sincerely
