Miidera Yamabushi Experience

Miidera Yamabushi Experience

The Miidera temple has a long history of mountain asceticism known as shugendo. Shugendo is a Buddhist practice that has adopted the ancient Japanese custom of mountain worship. The aim of the practitioner is to attain enlightenment through a life of ascetic seclusion in the mountains. Those who practice shugendo are known as yamabushi. On this tour, dress up as a yamabushi and head into the mountains to experience shugendo with your very own yamabushi guide.
