You may not want to go to public baths. Then, why don't you try reserved baths? |
As a Japanese custom, you don't have to worry about being naked of others in the bath, which comes from such a history that a bath is public space. In general, Japanese people travel to enjoy a scenic hot spring bath more than for sightseeing. The purpose of their travel is to soak in a local hot spring and to enjoy a local food. Those are the fun in the weekend of Japanese people. However, there are still some people who would feel it is not comfortable to take a bath with others.
What is popular with them is "the guest rooms with an open-air bath". But such rooms are even fewer and it often costs 50,000 yen and more. So, what we recommend is, "a Ryokan (inn) that has tiny hot spring facilities which can be reserved for about one hour. As a matter of fact, there are a large number of those inns. Also there are a lot of affordable ones. Why don't you try "a Ryokan with a reserved bath"? |
