Trying on a kimono is one of the most colorful ways of experience traditional culture when visiting Japan. The problem is it is no easy task to wear it correctly.
Luckily, "Separate-Kimono" solves the problem without the burden of taking lessons, and you'll learn the trick to making kimono easier than your ever thought!
The traditional kimono is usually a single piece. Fukui's Araiya, though, has developed a "Separate-Kimono" which comes in two pieces: a wrap skirt and a jacket. Separate-kimono is designed to be easy to wear. Velcro is used to keep them from opening, and they are machine washable so you don't have to worry about special care when you take one home with you to your own country. To wear a kimono like a pro, though, you will need to learn a few basic rules and tricks. For instance, opening the collar the size of a fist is considered to be very sexy, and your teacher will even teach you how to walk elegantly. |
