Rare Excitement in the countryside!!
Mr.Kusano
Today, I'll introduce the farm restaurant, "Suwano" in Saitama prefecture (an hour drive from Tokyo). Recently farm restaurants are getting more popular in Japan. The owner is a housewife of the farm and offers healthy cuisine made of homemade fresh vegetables.
Tempura, Salad, miso soup...all of them have condensed flavor and brilliant taste!! Needless to say, all of the foods are nutritious.
Her son and grand child (1-year-old) grown up here seems to have healthy faces.
Of course the owner is also lively and energetic.

Tasty rice boiled in the furnace
Ms.Satomi Hagiwara

The owner, Ms.Satomi Hagiwara holds "Kachan Juku" (Kachan means mother, and juku means school). For instance, a program of making fire and boiling rice in the furnace is popular among foreign visitors. Nowadays we usually boil rice in the electric rice cooker, however, Japanese home boiled rice by the furnace few decades ago.
Rice cooked in the furnace has original sweet flavor and tastes really nice!
Participants can harvest vegetables by themselves and eat them on the scene.
The other day we GMT members went to the farm and harvest potatoes.
It's a precious experience for us having no chance to touch crops.
All of us were so delighted with the big harvest. Talking with Hagiwara family was also fun and we felt as if we had gone into the country.

Japanese Green Tourism
In Japan, the concept of "Green Tourism" (or Agri-Tourism, Rural Tourism, spending holidays in the countryside, originated in Europe) was introduced dozen years ago. Ms.Hagiwara is also the person who went to France and Germany to study the know-how of green tourism. Since then farm guesthouses and restaurants with their own flavor were opened in various places in Japan. Lots of visitors went to enjoy country dishes and harvest experience.

It's certain that you can experience the rare excitement in the countryside .
Why not come and join Japanese Green Tourism?!
