Great news for Star Wars fans! To celebrate the 30 th anniversary of the movie's premiere in Japan on June 24, 1978, Lucasfilm Ltd., in cooperation with the Lewis + Daniel Group, will present the first-ever official Star Wars Celebration in the Asia-Pacific region. Fans should make plans now to be at the Makuhari-Messe Convention Center just outside of Tokyo, July 19-21 for this extraordinary festival!

This three-day event will be filled with live entertainment, celebrities, special presentations, unique Star Wars exhibits, exclusive merchandise, pop-culture tributes, participatory events, costume contests, and many other activities.

Mark Hamill, the actor who portrayed Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, will make an appearance during the event and sign autographs, as well as Carrie Fisher who portrayed Princess Leia. This will be the first time that Hamill and Fisher have both attended a Star Wars Celebration event! A host of other Star Wars performers, including Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), David Prowse (Darth Vader), and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) will also be in attendance.

At the costume contest you can show off your Star Wars costume in front of fans from all over the world. Cos-play, or wearing the costume of a Manga or Anime character, is a popular part of Japanese pop-culture, and it is certain to add a unique mixture of Japanese pop-culture to Star Wars Celebration Japan.
