Mt.Fuji Travellers from around the world flock to see Mt. Fuji, Japan’s best known symbol. The highlands of Hakone boast a large number of hot springs (onsen) and both Japanese and overseas visitors come to Hakone for treatment at the many health resorts, to visit the parks and mountains or just to relax and unwind.
Fukuoka is Kyushu's largest city and main port through which trade from the Asian continent first entered Japan. The east part of this city was once called "Hakata" which is still the name of Fukuoka's central district, main railway station, Festivals and toys. The city's ancient past lives on in the remains of its castle.
Hiroshima is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture. Completely razed by the atomic bomb explosion in August 1945, it has since been rebuilt into the cultural, economic and political heart of western Honshu. Hiroshima's Peace Park including the memorial museum, and the island of Miyajima are among Japan's most interesting tourist attractions.
Kyoto was the capital of Japan for more then 10 centuries until 1986 and it still retains most of its old world charm. Countless historically priceless structures survive in the city today, including 2 Imperial villas, 200 Shinto shrines, 1500 Buddhist temples and over 60 beautiful gardens, which highlight the beauty of Autumn and Spring.
Nagoya is the capital of Aichi Prefecture. A leading industrial city, Nagoya is especially noted for its chinaware, timepieces and machinery. Surrounded by beautiful valleys and attractive historical sites, it is home to Nagoya Castle, built in 1612 and reconstructed in 1959, and Atsuta Shrine, one of Japan's most sacred Shinto shrines.
Nara was Japan's first permanent capital. It is conveniently located less than one hour from Kyoto and Osaka. Nara is home to many historic treasures, including some of Japan's oldest Buddhist temples, and is famous for playing an important role in the development of Japan's arts, crafts, literature and industries.
Nikkō is located in the mountains of Tochigi Prefecture. Nikkō National Park contains some of the country’s most spectacular waterfalls, scenic trails, and many famous hotspring (onsen) resorts. A popular tourist destination in any season, its many historical attractions include the Futarasan Shrine, which dates back to the year 767.
Okinawa is Japan's southernmost prefecture made up of three major island groups, the Okinawa Islands, the Miyako Islands and the Yaeyama Islands. Okinawa's climate is subtropical, and the seas surrounding Okinawa's islands are among the world's most beautiful with coral reefs and abundant marine wildlife. Snorkelling and scuba diving are among Okinawa's top attractions.
Osaka is the capital of Osaka Prefecture and the commercial and industrial center of western Japan. Home to traditional stage arts such as Bunraku and Joruri and a major transportation hub, both international and domestic, Osaka is conveniently located for visiting the nearby ancient capitals of Nara and Kyoto.
Sapporo is the fast growing capital city of Hokkaido. Best known as the host city of the 1972 Winter Olympics and for its annual Snow Festival which attracts more than 2 million tourists from around the globe, it is also home to the renowned Sapporo Breweries and a gateway to other parts of the island.
Takayama Hida is an old province located in the northern part of Gifu prefecture. The castle town of Hida is Takayama, which dates back to the Jomon period. Apart from Takayama Castle, the city boasts many old, traditional houses and museums. Takayama Festival with its spectacular floats is held in Apr. and Oct.
Tokyo is the nation’s capital and largest city. From its traditional Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, Kabuki plays and Sumo wrestling, to modern landmarks such as the high-tech Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo is a fast paced, bustling metropolis. With so much to offer, this city will excite and amaze you.
