Sunrise Tours Announces "Hands-On Japan !" Vol. 4
5 New Courses (Total 44 Courses) On Sale June 5!
JTB Global Marketing & Travel (JTB GMT) announces the start of its summer program of hands-on experience tours for travelers from abroad and foreign residents of Japan. Five new tours have been added to the "Hands-On Japan" tour lineup, which went on sale starting June 5, 2009.
More and more travelers to Japan are looking for that special tour which will allow them to experience Japanese life and culture. To meet those needs, JTB GMT’s Sunrise Tours Division introduced its "Hands-On Japan" series in 2008, with tours to experience tea ceremony, Japanese calligraphy and wearing kimono. Other tours offer an insider’s walk through Akihabara or the chance to dine on a traditional Japanese party boat, giving visitors and residents alike a chance to participate in various aspects of Japanese daily life.
The new "Hands-On Japan" series for summer through early fall re-introduces the popular summer favorite Mt. Fuji Climbing tour and the chance to visit the World Cosplay Summit, along with new tours designed for family summer fun, including astronaut training and local festivals. With a total of 44 different tours, there is something to appeal to everyone, whether you are just visiting or have been in Japan for some time.
New Courses
1. Astronaut Training at Tsukuba Space Cente
Visit the Tsukuba Space Center and become an astronaut for the day, with the chance to actually experience various training activities!

2. Summer Festivals in Northern Japan - Flowers & Dreams –(from Tokyo & Sendai)
A visit to Yamagata for the famous Hanagasa festival parade (participation OK!) and to Sendai to see the gorgeous decorations at the Tanabata (Star Festival), one of Northern Japan’s top four festivals.

3. River Terrace Dining with Kyoto Maiko
An experience possible only in the summer: terrace dining overlooking a river in north Kyoto, with Kyoto’s famous maiko.

4. Art Festival Free Plan - The Japan's Traditional Landscape -
Held only once every 3 years, the Echigo-Tsumari Art Festival is an interesting contrast of art and landscapes, with open-air displays in a traditional village area. This free-plan tour provides round-trip transportation by Shinkansen, art passport to see all artworks and a bus ticket to visit the various sites.

5. Nagoya Historical Parade (from Nagoya)
A fall festival of massive scale, including the Heroes Procession honoring the three great feudal lords from Aichi: Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu.
