JTB Global Marketing & Travel Announces Its Entry into the Global Luxury Travel Market
JTB Global Marketing & Travel (JTB GMT), a subsidiary of JTB that specializes in inbound travel to Japan, will be exhibiting at the International Luxury Travel Market* (ILTM 2007), held from December 3 in Cannes, France, and will use the opportunity to initiate a business line aimed at drawing affluent travelers from around the world to Japan.
Knowing that affluent travels have a "taste for the authentic" and are looking for "something new, something different" through "exclusive special experiences", the company will present buyers at ILTM 2007 the following concepts for realizing these desires in Japan.

Since Japan is not a resort destination of the type that is usually thought to appeal to the affluent, the effort required to attract these travelers will not be easy, but using its strengths in comprehensive tour planning and coordination, JTB GMT hopes to stimulate the intellectual curiosity of affluent travelers to draw them to a country that remains uncharted territory for many.
To give buyers a clear vision of what to expect on a trip to Japan, JTB GMT will present the following program proposals at the event.

The International Luxury Travel Market, held each December in Cannes, France, is the world's largest luxury travel trade fair. Over 1000 exhibitors from around the world, including hotels, resort hotel chains, golf courses, cruise lines, and travel companies participate in the event. Since attendance by buyers such as travel arrangers for affluent customers, travel companies, and travel agencies is by invitation only, the market is free from buyers who are "only looking", making it a popular venue for serious business negotiations
This year's event is noteworthy since METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will be the exclusive sponsors of the opening ceremonies under the name "Japan Night", a first for the country.
This year also marks the first time that JTB GMT will participate in the market. The company sees the event as the perfect chance to make sales and will use the occasion to target travel agents for affluent customers in Europe and the United States. It plans to hold negotiations with over 45 buyers with whom it has no prior business dealings.
